Prime Minister of India Inaugurates Sri Sathya Sai Nigamagamam at Hyderabad

Bhagavan visited Hyderabad between 27th and 30th August 1992. Bhagavan left Prashanti Nilayam with a small entourage on 27th morning, by the 20 seater Dornier aircraft. The flight was historic as Bhagavan flew from the Sri Sathya Sai Aerodrome for the first time. The aerodrome had been commissioned in November 1990. Bhagavan gave Darshan to the waiting crowd at the Begumpet Airport. He then proceeded to Shivam and the devotees assembled at Shivam were blessed with His Darshan.

From the moment of His arrival, Bhagavan was busy meeting dignitaries and visiting the Kalyana Mandapam in Srinagar colony to finalise the arrangements for the Inauguration Ceremony scheduled to be held on the 29th. The Kalyana Mandapam was to serve as a multipurpose community hall for the Sai Organisation.  The Sathya Sai Central Tust had financed this project. The Government of Andhra Pradesh had donated the land for the Mandapam.

Bhagavan gave Darshan to the enormous crowd at Shivam on every morning and evening of His stay there. Bhagavan visited Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar on the 28th and blessed the staff and students of the school. He watched a Bharat Natyam recital by the school students in the assembly hall of the school.

The Prime Minister of India, Sri. P. V. Narasimha Rao arrived at the Kalyana Mandapam at 11.30 am on 29th for the Inaugural Ceremony. Bhagavan received the Prime Minister on his arrival. Among those present on the dais were the Governor of Andhra Pradesh, Sri Krishna Kant, Governor of Rajasthan, Dr. M. Chenna Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Sri N. Janardhana Reddy, Chief Minister of Karnataka, Sri S. Bangarappa, Lok Sabha Speaker, Sri Shivaraj Patil, Union Home Minister, Sri S. B. Chavan, Union Agricultural Minister, Sri Balram Jakhar and the Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court, Sri Anjaneyalu.

Justice P. N. Bhagwati, former Chief Justice of India, welcomed the Prime Minister and other the invitees. Sri P. V. Narasimha Rao lit the lamps, inaugurated the Kalyana Mandapam and then addressed the gathering. Bhagavan in His Discourse, exhorted the people to realise the glory of Bharat and to strive in unity for the all round progress of the nation.

Bhagavan presented a mega-size silver bowl to Sri A. Ramakrishna, Chief Executive of Larsen & Toubro - ECC, as a memento for the successful completion of the Kalyana Mandapam in record time. He also materialised a gold chain for Sri R. Chakrapani, the architect of the building. Thereafter, Bhagavan hosted lunch for the the dignitaries in the dining hall below the auditorium at the Kalyana Mandapam. He blessed the devotees at Shivam with Darshan and Discourse that evening. He left for Prashanti Nilayam at 9.30 am on the 30th.
