The hospital staff along with their families presented a cultural programme and a drama in Kalyana Mandapam in the evening.

Conversations in the Evening

In the evening, a cultural programme by the Hospital staff had been scheduled. Being a Sunday there were daylong Bhajans. Even before coming for evening Bhajans, Swami went to the Kalyana Mandapam and spent time with the participants of the evening’s cultural programme. After the Bhajans, Swami came to the Kalyana Mandapam at 4.25 pm. The programme started with a Swagatam (welcome) song. Swami asked a doctor…

Swami : Who did the stage arrangments?

Doctor : All the staff.

Swami blessed the singers after the Swagatam song. Seeing two children coming down the stage with bouquets, Swami asked, ‘Our children?’, got up and went to the children. A small girl handed a bouquet.

Swami : What is your name?

Girl : Ambika.

Swami : Ambika! (Smiling) Not Ambika Soni (Indian politician and daughter of Former Governor of Goa and ardent Sai devotee Sri Nakul Sen)?
(Swami took a card from a boy.) What is your name?

Boy : Srinivas.

Swami : Srinivas. (Swami went and sat back. To the boys) See the stage. (After the programme, Swami asked one of the doctors) What role did your child play?

Doctor : Meera.

Swami : Meera. (To another doctor) Your child?

Doctor : Rana.

Swami : Rana. Nice.

The next item was a musical recital by the children. The song had been composed by Mrs. West. Swami blessed Mrs. West and spoke to the Warden about her. The next item was a song by Mrs. Maria. When her name was announced…

Swami : (To Brindavan Warden) Maria?

B. Warden : Yes.

Swami : Maria.

The next item was a devotional song by Dr. Narayana Murthy. When he came on to the stage…

Swami : Anaesthetist. (While going to the stage, Swami asked a devotee) How was the programme?

Devotee : Nice.

Swami : Very nice.

On the stage, Swami spoke to a few actors. He created a chain for the actor who acted as ‘Manuja’ in the final drama. Swami took photographs with the participants. Aarti was offered at 5.43 pm. Swami then came to the center and held the hands of an elderly person and took photos once again. Swami spoke to the devotee while going back. Swami then retired to Trayee Brindavan.
