When Sri Sathya Sai Protected India from Enemy Attack

September 1965

Digvijay Singh, ruler of Jamnagar and his wife were great devotees of Swami. In September 1965, when hostilities with Pakistan broke out, they took refuge in Swami as the couple had more faith in Divine power than in military might.

Baba in His infinite Grace saved Jamnagar from the sorties of the enemy. The message sent by Swami Himself to our Air Force that He would afford protection to them, infused immense courage and boosted their morale and also augmented their sense of duty. There is enough evidence from our Air Force personnel to show that the bombs dropped by the Pakistanis, missed their targets on the Jamnagar air-field and fell helter-skelter, often on the other side of the border!

During that period, Swami had ‘appeared’ before many Indian pilots and members of their families who were anxious about them, and encouraged them with His ‘Abhaya Hasta’. “I have come here to bless”, said Swami, clear enough for the ear to hear, when He gave Darshan to the wife of an Air Force official. That very moment a shell which should have shattered the official to pieces, fell a hundred yards away, and exploded.

Eventually Swami paid a ‘Physical’ visit to Jamnagar. No words can describe the Bhakti (devotion) that surged from the Jawans (soldiers) then. They were called 'Sainik School Boys'. Noticing their badges with the initials ‘S. S. B.’ Swami, with a smile and the Advaitic love of identifying the devotee with the deity, pointed out, “S. S. B. - Sathya Sai Baba!”

    1. God is above good and evil ... and yet God is Everything and Everything is God ... in Oneness there is no good and evil, the friend and the foe, etc ... that what you think that the enemies are doing beyond His Will is just the result of bad karma of the Indians ... Karma is God's law that no one can escape, He has set such rules and that is why you think that the enemies are working against His Will ... How the Indians (and the rest of the world) began to distance themselves from God in the Treta and Dwapara Juga, chasing worldly riches, accumulating only worldly desires, in Kali Juga comes the culmination of that distance which leads to the situation as it is today, everyone is an enemy to everyone, there is no unity with God ... what the enemies do is not against His Will but a consequence alienation from God, the consequence of ignoring God ... when man's thoughts, words and deeds are constantly directed to God with love (for example Prahlada), then the enemy can do what he wants but it can not touch the one who is dedicated to God.

So, that what you think that the enemies are doing against His Will is just the heavy karma of India, which only dear God can alleviate and that is exactly what Sathya Sai Baba is doing ... He can, of course, undo all the bad karma at once and return everything to Sathya Juga, but that is not an option because God Himself said that once "the Wheel of Time starts, no one can stop it until it comes to an end by itself" ...

We should dedicate our thoughts, words and deeds completely to God and then there is no fear, no matter where we are and no matter what happens...only in this way do we "switch" bad karma to good karma ...and then to Oneness, where nothing there is, but God... and all this needs to be realized in the life (s) given to us.
